The Postmodem Approach to Globalization. Sigmund Baumann

Summary/Abstract: The paper examines Zygmunt Bauman’s approach, inspired by postmodern philosophy, towards the problem of globalization and the results of its applying. The first part doubts the appropriateness of the attempt to make transition from postmodern to realistic discourse. The second part treats the understanding of globalization as a postmodern phenomenon. The conclusions about the cognitive and prognostic value of Bauman’s thesis are sceptical, because of the blending of discourses. The third part criticizes the autor’s idea of proclaiming the strangeness as a part of conditio humana.
