Summary/Abstract: The discourse on contemporary architecture has been recently enriched by introducing definitions which apparently have little in common with the buildings’ characteristics. More and more authors write about performative architecture, where the building is not a scene for a show, but becomes its proper actor. The form no longer follows function, but results from an interaction of external and internal factors. The performance of modern architecture has its origins in virtual environment and cannot exist without digital tools. Many symptoms suggest that this will be one of the leading directions in architecture’s development in the predictable future.
