Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this essay is to present the impact of the Russian – Ukrainian conflict on the situation of people living inside the area of military operations in the east of Ukraine. The key issue is to highlight the predicament of Internally Displaced Persons, the scale and geography of the phenomenon of forced internal migration, as well as actions taken bythe Ukrainian authorities and international organisations towards resolutionof the problem of IDPs. According to the latest data, in Ukraine thereare over 1,7 million people who had registered as internally displaced. However, in total over 2 million people had to abandon their homesteads. Many of the aforementioned persons live in extraordinarily harsh conditions, and since majority of those are elderly and ailing, they are highlyreliant on the help of others.
