Summary/Abstract: In the paper, I advance a thesis that evaluating pupils’ conduct with marks is a manifestation oflinear approach to phenomena related to the processes of education at school and a drive at absoluteorder, defined with school regulations, which not only does not have to foster pupil’s development, but actually contradicts its regularities. I link my considerations to the mathematical chaostheory. Due to the objectives of the text, I shall refer to its Tyree elements and their educationalimplications: (1) reality is not linear and it is unpredictable, as a result (2) chaos is a category thatdoes not describe a state at variance with a norm, but the norm itself, and actually (3) it is a prerequisite, potential, the beginning of many processes. Considerations are supported with an analysisof seven dozen regulations for marking conduct.
