Summary/Abstract: Religious education as a subject in school is increasingly criticized for neglecting its duty to impart religious knowledge to the youngsters. Religious education can only deal with this critic by referring to the increasing pluralization in religion and belief. But due to the importance of social and economical structures beside cultural and religious aspects religious education might develop a paradigm of heterogeneity.
