Summary/Abstract: The most important of the leading problems in Istanbul, which has a particular importance in terms of transportation and communication, is the problem of urban transportation. The leading negativities revealed by urban transportation problems of Istanbul, are traffic accidents, economic and environmental damage, negative psychological effect on people and disadvantage in the field of tourism. Solutions to the transportation problems in the city Istanbul cannot be successful on a single system. Besides various measures that can be taken in road, rail and sea transport, today the new transport proposals are also brought on the agenda.
