Summary/Abstract: In this study, the author deals with the issue of environmental damage caused to the joint patrimony of humanity. The structure and the content of the article reveal the comments upon the concept of joint patrimony of humanity, upon the states’ liability for damages caused to the joint patrimony of humanity, taking into consideration, for the purpose of the above-mentioned, the doctrine developed by certain important names in the field of domestic and international law (M. Rèmond-Gouilloud, M.A. Fitzmaurice, R. Lefeber, X. Hanqui, M. Duţu, R. Miga-Beşteliu). Finally, the author formulates brief considerations regarding the need for cooperation among all states for the protection and operation of the joint patrimony of humanity.
