Summary/Abstract: The main question discussed in the article is why in the Bulgarian literary field there is no history of women's writing. The research is concerned on Bulgarian literary histories published in the period between 1878 and 1944 as well on three studies, from the second half of 1930s, which explore women's place and role in Bulgarian literature. Leading hypothesis in the study is that history of Bulgarian women literature is not realized because of political but not by reason ofaesthetical motivation. After the First World War Bulgarian feminist project produced many works which attracted critical attention on women writers and their place in Bulgarian cultural life. The political change which took place in 1944 did not allow pluralism in the public life and this is one of the reasons due to which there is no history of Bulgarian woman's literature.
