Summary/Abstract: In "Otets Paisii's Slavo-Bulgarian History and the Canonical Memory of Public Patriarchy" I argue that Paisii canonises male domination and female subordination as legitimate. The article introduces and defines such terms as canonical memory and public patriarchy. Its argumentation is built on the comparative analysis of the monk of Chilandari's historical account and the foreign versions of Bulgarian history written in the 60s—90s of the nineteenth century by Mavro Orbini, Blasius Kleiner, and Jovan Raich.
