The memoirs of Mihail Madzharov as a source on the activity of the People's Party (January 1899-February 1901)

Summary/Abstract: The author has focused his attention on the activity of the People’s Party in the period 1899-1901. The main source of information for the research was the work of Mihail Madjarov (1854-1944) “The last years of Konstantin Stoilov’s life”. For the first time the memoirs appeared in 1927 on the pages of the “Democratic review” magazine. Because of the great interest they aroused among the public of that time they were immediately published as a separate edition. The work of M. Madzharov possesses evidential value and cogency to a maximum degree, and not only contributes to the fullness of the Democratic party’s characterisation but outlines Bulgarian political life of the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century as well.
