Summary/Abstract: In this article D. Karłowicz considers the means of modernizing Poland. Contrary to a popular belief that Western solutions should be copied, the author claims that those very solutions destroy the identity and subjectivity. Rather, modern Poland should use existing foundations, such as a native community, culture and politics.
