Summary/Abstract: Shakespeare’s plays: King Richard II and The Tempest inspired the author to discuss political changes in the 18th Century England. The position of the king weakened due to the desacralization of the monarchy and the emergence of the political society. The Elizabethan concept of The King’s Two Bodies helped this situation. Dynastic continuity, the crown as a corporation and the dignity of the monarchy in England ensured its survival despite major political storms without such damage as in France.
