Summary/Abstract: It is the author’s opinion that the discussion on the secularization processes throughout the world is chaotic and schematic, the reason being underdetermination of the notion of “secularization”. While Casanova acknowledges the existence of secularization in Europe and the USA, according to him the changes in these societies are different in nature. The USA is a good example of a country where religion and religious practices do not affect the modernization processes in a negative way.
