ANCIENT AND THE VOICE OF A HERZEGOVINIAN

Summary/Abstract: As in other Croatian newspapers of that time, the ancient in the Voice of a Herzegovinian can be classified in two groups. The first one is consisted of history and civilization of Greece and Rome in the Ancient Age, and the second one of heterogeneous usage of the Latin language. The second one is more represented in Mostar’s paper, and both were used in purpose of explaining contemporary situation as the strongest and most convincing arguments or as the best examples especially of patriotism. Usage of maxims, witty remarks, phrases and quotes in Latin gives stylistic features to the text.
