Oversight of the activities and the legal status of the clergy during the late soviet period in Kaunas city

Summary/Abstract: Straipsnyje analizuojami dvasininkų veiklos ir finansų kontrolės būdai vėlyvuoju sovietmečiu Kauno mieste. Re-miantis Kauno apskrities archyvo medžiaga atskleidžiama, kokiais metodais vietos valdžios institucijos naudojosi, bandydamos daryti įtaką tam tikroms dvasininkų veiklos sritims, pristatomi charakteringiausi pavyzdžiai. The article examines the methods applied for the oversight of activities and finances of the clergy during the late soviet period in Kaunas city. Material found at the Kaunas Regional Archives was used to illustrate the methods applied by the local governmental institutions in their attempts to influence certain activities of the clergy. Most distinctive examples of such methods are also presented.
