Europeanization in the party system of the Czech Republic - Aplication of the Ladrech´s Concept

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses manifestations of europeanization in the party system of the Czech Republic. It uses the concept of europeanization created by Robert Ladrech as its theoretical base. Analyses is focused on the party system as a whole as well as on 4 major parliamentary parties, ČSSD, KDU-ČSL, KSČM a ODS. It examines the impact of the European Union in five areas singled out as fields of analyses by Ladrech: policy/programmatic content, organization, patterns of party competition, party-government relations and relations beyond the national party system. Apart from the actual analyses of europeanization of the Czech party system, the article also addresses the issue of applying concepts created in and for Western Europe in the Central and Eastern Europe region, both in the specific case of Ladrech’s concept and in general sense.
