Educational Needs Survey in the Field of Consumer Rights Protection in Bulgaria

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of a study aimed at assessing the existence of prerequisites for the demand for educational products in the field of consumer rights protection in Bulgaria. An analyses is made of the institutional framework of the process in Bulgaria, and the results of the survey among representatives of the four major stakeholders are presented (government agencies involved with protecting the rights of consumers; NGOs supporting the process; consumers and companies offering products and services). The study illustrates points of view on how far the process for protection of consumer rights in Bulgaria has developed, what the main barriers to it are, what methods for improvement exist, whether the active supply of educational products would help the process and, on this basis, what role universities can play and what type of educational products would have a better market in the short and medium term.
