Summary/Abstract: A specific feature of early Scythian Akinakai daggers is their manufacture from bronze, most often with iron alloy. The technology of making bimetallic handles is connected with the "Cimmerian scheme" known for the manufacture of so-called Kabardino-Piatigorsk daggers type. The latest copies of this type are present in sites dated to the mid-7th century BC which is reason to consider them as Scythian akinakes predecessors. Scythian bimetallic technology workshops was inherited from their predecessors and the first daggers of this kind are associated with type Gudermes which appeared at the end of the 8th - beginning of the 7th century in the Caucasus. Early Akinakai, Posmuş type, are also known in the Carpathian basin and are made entirely or partly of bronze.
