FLOODS AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT IN THE COMMUNE OF UNIEJÓW

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is evaluation of crisis management measures implemented in Unie-jów municipality to protect its population and property from flooding. It presents an analysis of the effects of floods that occurred in this area in recent years, as well as actions taken by the authorities to minimize the consequences of this type of disasters. It was found that the greatest damages were brought by the 2010 flood, which was caused by intensive rainfall on the one hand, and discharge of water from the Jeziorsko reservoir on the other hand. The measures taken by the authorities, both technical and non-technical, should be evaluated positively.
