Summary/Abstract: In 2012 Schwartz with colleagues have refined the value theory. The refinement was based on the statement, that values form a continuum, therefore various, more or less precise, partitions of the continuum are possible. Schwartz et al. (2012) proposed to divide the continuum into 19 more narrowly defined values, that are placed in the theoretically predicted way on the value circle. The article presents five studies conducted in Poland on a total of N = 7747 respondents aged 11-84 years. Subsequent versions of the of the Portrait Value Questionnaire (PVQ) to measure 19 values were used (PVQ-5x with 6-point Likert scale, PVQ-5x with 11-point Likert scale, PVQ-R and PVQ-R2). The final version of the questionnaire (PVQ-R2) has the following features: (1) satisfactory reliability measured by Cronbach’s alpha; (2) factorial validity – model for all 19 values reached satisfactory model fit coefficients in confirmatory factor analysis and (3) structural validity – confirmatory multidimensional scaling supported the theoretically predicted circular order of all values but universalism and benevolence, that changed places, in analogy to the recently published results of other studies (Schwartz et al., 2012).
