Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the lack of regulations and mechanisms for suppression of corruption. The paper unequivocally suggests that corruption deprives the state and its citizens from their potentials and resources and occurs when discretionary authority is high and institutional control is weak. The focus of the paper is on the analysis of international regulations on corruption and the problem of lack of adequate normative framework for efficient fight against corruption in the Republic of Serbia, including all organizational levels — from local to central levels of state government. The paper analyzes thoroughly both advantages and disadvantages of legal and other attempts to handle this issue in accordance with standards. Fight against corruption requires its monitoring and investigation, which is also the subject of this paper.
