Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the analysis of the role of translation in the process of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language. The results are based on intervewing students who study Ukrainian in Jagiellonian University, and Higher State East-European School in Pshemys’l. Certain questions have been analyzed: 1) how does translation help in mastering a language? 2) translation of what texts helps to get the best results?
