Perception of home in the offspring of Vietnamese immigrants

Summary/Abstract: The thesis elaborates the topic of territorial identity on the descendants of Vietnamese immigrants´ example in the Czech Republic. The goal is to find out what teenage generation ofVietnamese considers their home and is to understand the process having led to it. The issueis connected with the term of identity with focus on the ethnic and territorial extent. Alsosocial constructivism paradigm has here been outlined where principles of working with identitybase from. The thesis reaches from the history of Vietnamese arrival into the CzechRepublic till present day and the second generation. These are in fact Vietnamese students atthe age of 21 – 29, who have spent most of their lives here. Either they have arrived with theirparents as children or were already born in the Czech republic. Narrative interviews were carriedout as part of a biographical research with representatives of given generation, duringwhich the question about relation of an individual to ethnicity and home was monitored. Theconclusion summarizes essential findings of research analysis and field data interpretationunderneath.Key wordsNarrative, Vietnam
