Summary/Abstract: The third session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, held in New York City from 4 November to 12 December 1946, had a fundamental role in establishing of the final texts of the treaties of peace with Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary, Finland and Romania. Taking into account the fact that the works of this session were not investigated sufficiently by Romanian historians, the purpose of this study is to reveal some documents discovered in the historical archives, documents which highlight the manner in which the members of the Council reached the final decision on the completion of the Peace Treaty with Romania. Furthermore, based on documents from archives which recently have become available, I sought to highlight the efforts made by Romanian government in an attempt to obtain some changes in the Draft Peace Treaty, especially on some major issues, such as co-belligerent status, military clauses and economic clauses, as well as the regime of navigation on the Danube.
