THE VALUES ASSOCIATED WITH WORK OF ECONOMIC MIGRANTS

Summary/Abstract: Work is a fundamental form of human activity. Its significance varies depending on the age and culture of the society. In the era of mass economic migration, there exists certain overestimation of significance in this regard. The presented overview of empirical research reveals the position of work in the value system of economic migrants, motives of emigration, related professional expectations and valued aspects of migrants’ work. Work is presented here mostly as instrumental value serving to acquire other values, however not devoid of its own value (autotelic).
