Summary/Abstract: The article emphasizes the need to put into practice, in the processes of education and training, the so-called „soft” competences and metacompetences, which unlike the detailed dimension of the competences gained by graduates of various types and levels of education are very important, since they should be characteristic of all employees. If they are to be developed within the space of higher education, university teachers should be familiar with them. Educational activity assumes that they know what features their students should strive to achieve, so that (in the future) they will be able to manage on the contemporary labour market, which, in today’s conditions of mass higher education, is the employer’s market. Therefore, the text presents the requirements of the contemporary labour/employer’s market set for university students and graduates. Developing appropriate psychological predispositions is of paramount importance from the point of view of occupational „suitability”. It is personality features and non-professional skills that can, to a greater extent, decide the success in finding the first and further jobs. Thus, it is an educational task.
