Summary/Abstract: On the basis of critical works, reviews, papers and essays an overview of opinions andevaluations on the part of Polish reviewers and literature specialists on the subject of Gorky’sliterary output at the beginning of the 20th century has been made. Attention has also been drawn to the writer«s attitude towards the development of Russian culture in that very period.
