Personal names in contemporary translation o f Russian literatury texts

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to present the problem of transmitting cultural-determined personal names in literatury translation. The study focuses on various groups of such lexems: personal names, which were created onthe base of the model: name + patronimicum + surname; diminutive names; meaning names; folkand historical names and personal names of intertextual relationships. The emphasis is put on imagination of the translator and creative individual approach to each lexical element and its function in the text. The very important thing is the perspective of recipients with a different cultural background.
