Summary/Abstract: For a perfect presentation of the meanings of words in the vocabulary teaching process, complete lexical fields with all their features in German and Polish can be contrasted to show similarities but also differences between words which at first glance may seem exact equivalents. The article deals with a vocabulary teaching and learning strategy which employs contrasting semantic features in German and Polish lexical fields. It discusses the idea that words in different languages, in most cases, are not real one-to-one equivalents.
