Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this work is to present the results of the research concerning the role of experiment in conjunction with the scientific method in shaping the learner’s research attitude. The research was held in Thorn gymnasiums. The research sample were the classes where the experiment was practically done, whereas, the control sample were the classes where the experiment was only theoretically described. After the lessons , in both groups of the learners, the level of knowledge and the ability to cope with the methodological research concepts were checked. The results of the research indicated that the ability to do the experiment by the learners themselves allows not only the better remembering the concepts but also the better understanding of the natural process, as well as the use of this knowledge in typical and problematic situations. Taking into account the positive effects of the use of these methods in learning, they were also introduced in academic learning. On the basis of obtained results it may be said that these methods are extremely valuable in learning science at all educational levels. They activate, allow to develop the independence in thinking and behaviour, and also acquiring new knowledge through solving theoretical and practical problems, so that they contribute to the shape of learner’s and student’s research attitude.
