Summary/Abstract: Pain is an unpleasant sensory experience associated with damage of tissue surface (skin), or deeper tissue layers (muscle), inflammation or disease of internal organs, trauma or tumor of the nervous system (neuropathic pain). The different types of pain are defined by time, anatomical and pathological criteria. It is very important to understand the mechanism of pain, the phenomenon of nociception and pain transmission pathways. Nociceptors - pain receptors are free nerve endings activated by pain mediators. This article describes the general processes for the phenomenon of pain and the etiology, pathophysiology and symptoms of muscle pain syndromes.
