Some considerations about the location of Vicina (the late 13th - the 1st half of the 14th centuries) reflected in the Romanian historiography

Summary/Abstract: Vicina played a special role in the Genoese commercial activities at the end of 13th - the 1st half of the 14th centuries and is mentioned in documents as the most important trading center of Italian merchants. Vicina is reflected in the Romanian historiography due to its political, economical, and religious activities as a seaport, fortress, and the archdiocese. The question of the geographical location of the city is no less important. In the present article there are considered the most probable hypotheses about the Vicina location.
