Dilema: A Weekly of the Transition

Summary/Abstract: It was in early 1993 that Andrei Plesu, art historian, medievalist and Romania’s first post-1989 minister of culture, started publishing the weekly magazine Dilema in Bucharest with funding from the Romanian Cultural Foundation. Dilema, as the masthead tells us, is “The Weekly of the Period of Transition”. Its purpose—as the title makes clear—is to facilitate discussion of the great dilemmas of our times. Except for some articles analyzing current events, all the issues are thematic.
