Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the place of Antiquity in the literary works of the Revival scholar Jordan Hadzhikonstantinov-Dzhinot. Previous research of V. Kanchov (1896), E. Georgiev (1965) and I. Radev (1994) on the topic underlines the importance of the Skopje Philosopher in the development of the Bulgarian Revival literature. I will investigate the extent to which the ancient model is necessary and appropriate in the context of the 19th century. The classical antiquity takes place in Jordan Hadzhikonstantinov-Dzhinot’s works to perform the following functions: 1. educational and didactic, 2. religious, 3. Sociopolitical, 4. individual - personal and 5. ethical. This observation tracks the moral and educational character of the poems of Dzhinot - "Paradise of God", "Dionysus Bacchus," "Labor is my Name", "Aurora", “The Crying of Skopje School”, „Vardar River“ and his dialogues "Minerva and Nine Muses”, “Sharpswordspeak because of the Lost Bulgaria", "Conversation or Make a Man", “Seven Ages of Man”, published in "Tsarigradski Vestnik" in the early 1850s.
