Summary/Abstract: The subject lies buried in libraries. I stumbled on it by chance, when I was looking for material for the book entitled A zsidó Budapest (Jewish Budapest, 1995). Literary, ethnographical, and religious data from long ago, from the non-Jewish environment surrounding the relatively closed Jewish Hungarian communities of Buda, Pest, and Óbuda. I accidentally discovered a book I had never heard of, although perhaps I should have.
