Summary/Abstract: Many lovers of Budapest agree that it is The Old and The New that makes Budapest so interesting. (Or is it the really old and the really new? Or is it the same with all the big cities?) Lovers of architecture from all over the world find Budapest a delight and a first-class destination for a discovery tour. They say they experience it as both familiar and peculiarly original. There are ludicrous copies of buildings elsewhere in the world, there are high quality imitations that echo world trends, and there are buildings simply not seen anywhere else. To help us all, a long overdue book, a bilingual edition at that, was recently published for the architecturally minded, both native and foreign.
