Summary/Abstract: Translation by Adrian Baboi Stroe. "In this paper, I discuss Plato’s concept of justice as inherent to a human beeing’s soul. This view contrasts simply with the traditional position held by Arisstotle and others that justice is essentially a social virtue. On the basis of the simile of the smaller and largewr letters in the second book of the Republic I argue that Plato uses the ideal city mainly as an analogical illustration of psychological justice and that he considers legal justice or justice in actions and rules as symptoms or effects of justice proper, which consists in a certain harmonious and rational disposition of character. The unanswered question is whether Plato really succeeds in explaining the causal link between justice as a character trait and those kinds of behaviour that are traditionally called just. "
