Summary/Abstract: Laboratory services confirming diagnostics and having a central role in health area, has also very important role for quality of the services. It is known that 70 % of decisions on diagnosis are made by depending on the laboratory results. Rejected samples from the laboratory are important for the safety of the patients and risk management because of the treatment delay. In this study, data of the rejected samples were obtained from an emergency laboratory of a hospital automation system of the “Istanbul South Anatolian Public Hospital Union”, in the September, the October and the November of the year 2014, and were grouped according to their rejection reason, and were evaluated by percentage. Total of 113.304 samples were analyzed, and 1370 samples were rejected by the laboratory in this three months period. According to this finding sample rejection rate was 1.21% in a three month period. It is probable to reduce the possible risks, the hospitalization duration, the cost and to give high standard care regarding to samples send from emergency service; by means of standardization, continuing education of staff, and regulation of working hours.
