The voynuk population and the general demographic situation in the Western and South-western Bulgarian lands during the first half of the 16th century (according to the information of Ottoman registers from 1529–1530)

Summary/Abstract: Based on an unpublished voynuк register from 1528/29, and three curtailed registers of the population in Rumelia from 1530, the following article presents new data on the voynuks in the Southwestern Bulgarian lands under Ottoman rule and the total number of the voynuk population in the Western and Eastern part of Rumelia in the first half of the 16-th century.
