Summary/Abstract: The Colonne sans fin (Endless Column) is the second theatrical play by Mircea Eliade written in 1970. In 2009, the Cinema Teatro « Il nuovo » Italian company and Telluris Associati propose the stage version « La Collona Infinita » staged by Letteria Giuffrè Pagano within several international festivals. The lead role, Brancusi, the Romanian sculptor who renewed the modern art of the 20th century is acted by the young actor Tazio Torrini. The Italian formula of the performance represents a concentrated pseudo monologue of the original text summing up sculptor’s theories on Art and Eliade’s opinions on Brancusi’s work: a set of ideas on the condition of the artist and art, the drama of the creator searching for pure forms, the language, and finally, on the contemporary art and its relationship to the postmodern society.
