Summary/Abstract: How to explain the fact that in the societies with the lowest criminality rate in the world so many stories are written, relating the cruelest crimes? Why do Scandinavian crime dramas provoke so much interest among the viewers all over the world? The article is devoted to the analysis of the reception and cultural contexts of the global success of the so- called Nordic noir.
