Summary/Abstract: The article examines the mythological roots of the short story by Ursula K. Le Guin “The Bones of the Earth”. At the heart of the story is a reflection of the eschatological myth, the central image of which is the Goddess of the Earth. Marriage of Heaven and Earth is the cosmogonic process, repeated in rituals and reflected in the literature. The result of a ritual renewal of the world becomes the birth of a new wizard, the priest, who will be the keeper of the well-being of the world order.
