Summary/Abstract: Compared to the rest of Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan stands out as the post-Soviet state whose system does not rely on a single strongman and it has a parliament with substantial power. Despite Kyrgyzstan’s recent experience with revolutions, which came with new presidents and a new constitution, it seems that the current president may be trying to reverse this course; to put the stateback on par with its more authoritarian neighbours.
