Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to present the utility of job satisfaction measurement in the process of human resource management and to propose a tool to measure job satisfaction. Conducting a research on the job satisfaction measurement seems to be justified, as there is no tool that measures job satisfaction according to the modern concept of well-being, defined as positive emotional experiences at work and job contentment. In order to show that job satisfaction measures might be useful in management processes, the results of empirical studies have been presented. The studies proved that job satisfaction is related to absenteeism, intention to quit the job, motivation and commitment, mental and physical health and performance of employees. Then, the author’s own research on job satisfaction questionnaire has been presented. Proposed questionnaire turned out to be a reliable and valid measurement tool that provides three indicators of job satisfaction: job contentment, frequency of positive emotional experiences, the frequency of negative emotional experiences.
