Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this article is to describe issues related to his-tory, the circumstances of the formation and the functioning of the Chinese typewriter. The study omitted the issues related to the development of Chi-nese writing, because the issues in this area (in contrast to the Chinese typewriters) are generally available in sinology textbooks, scientific or popular books. The study contains information on the two Chinese typewriters: Machines created by Hou–Kun Chow and Lin Yutang. The information in the article were taken from the patent documents and English–language publications.
