Summary/Abstract: ”Compared to where we are, we have come a long way. Compared to where we want to go, there is clearly a huge amount of work to do” – this is where Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) stands ten years after implementing the Dayton Agreement. For BiH, the EU pre-accession process provides a ”transition to-do list”. The task is extremely difficult, as all issues relevant for BiH’s post war reconstruction and transition to a viable market economy – like sustainability, privatisation, fighting organized crime, international intervention and EU integration, donor fatigue, and regional context – have to be tackled simultaneously. Yet today, the results of economic reconstruction have become visible. Obstructionism by political leaders who have often been working against BiH’s economic success and a disappointing privatisation process are some of the most striking negative points hindering BiH’s economic success.
