Summary/Abstract: In the Middle Ages in Poland, as in other countries of Western Europe, there was an increasing interest in stone used as construction material. This fact was dictated by the need to build both religious and secular buildings. Such buildings were intended to emphasize the power of the church and the state. In the process of building, especially cathedrals, the stone blocks were marked with various stamps. They not only reflected some ideological and social aspects of medieval buildings, but also provided valuable information about those who have built - builders, craftsmen, laborers and craftsmen. The stamps were engraved in stone masons to a certain depth and represented typically Latin letters "V" and "U".
