Wedding Poems in the Light of Rite De Passage (examples from magazine collections of popular poetry)

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the ritual basis and poetization method of the ritual model and ceremonial facts in wedding song. Relying on Toropova’s notion of the distinction between conflict-dramatic and festive tone in wedding songs, the semantics of the intersection of these discourses are analysed by way of looking for layers of meaning in a poem that expresses ambivalent feelings of the ritual actors. The paper also analyzes the ritual seduction in the wedding ceremonies as in the ceremony of crossing.
