Summary/Abstract: The subject of the research is the legal and ethical dimension of business intelligence. The author argues that business intelligence is a category of open source intelligence which goes only slightly beyond the sphere of advanced business analytics. In this scope, business intelligence, by definition, differs from business spying which allows for illegal activities. The author has based the above thesis on the results of the analysis of the legal and ethical dimension of business intelligence. The analysis of the legal sphere has been based on the key aspects of the legal system of the Republic of Poland.
