Summary/Abstract: The electronic European Language Portfolio for the Blind and Visually Impaired 16+ (ELPBVI ) has been developed for students with vision problems as a response to the standard versions of the European Language Portfolio (ELP). It is based on principles outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference. The aim of the paper is to make the reader acquainted with the ELPBVI before it is implemented in the Polish special education context. The article not only focuses on similarities and differences between the ELPBVI and the ELP but also shows how autonomy issue is addressed in the specific parts of the document targeted at students with vision deficit or loss.
